How the new InTouch discussion group works
All members will need to re-subscribe. Find out how by reading this.

The InTouch discussion group has changed slightly in the way it used to work. The way it works now is more compliant with internet standards and prevents OACAC and users from being identified as spammers and thus getting black-listed.
Everyone interested in getting InTouch communications must re-subscribe
The way InTouch used to work: If someone posted a message, everyone who was subscribed would get emailed immediately, including those who have not updated their email address in a long time. Consequently, this resulted in many emails to bounce. The higher the bounce rate, the more likely it would be to get blacklisted. Previously, there was only one way to receive InTouch posts... immediately.
The way InTouch now works: There are several ways you can subscribe to InTouch now. You can join the entire group and that gets you emailed on every topic that is posted in the group. You can also just subscribe to certain topics that are being discussed. This reduces the amount of outbound email traffic. Whether you subscribe to the entire group, or just particular topics, you have a choice in the manner in which you are emailed.
The choices are: immediately, daily digest or weekly digest. As you might suspect, the daily digest emails you at the end of the day, and weekly emails you the activity for the week. You might also notice that OACAC has established several other discussion groups in the system. InTouch will continue to serve the purpose it has in the past.
In all cases, the idea is to decrease the amount of outbound email and keep the communications only going out to valid email addresses. This is critical in a time when email spam and traffic have become an epidemic.
You will notice that the new OACAC website allows each member to manage their password, email address and all the rest of their individual and institutional data. When you log in, notice a link labeled Settings below your avatar on the right side of the screen. Clicking this will allow you to update your information on file with OACAC.
