About
This year's program will offer five asynchronous sessions tackling key college counseling topics. All asynchronous sessions become available upon successful registration. Each session is approximately one hour. Participants can watch these videos at their leisure any time between August 4, 2025 and July 30, 2026. Each session features experienced OACAC members from around the state sharing their experiences and best practices on each topic. To earn the certificate, participants will watch all five asynchronous sessions and respond to a brief knowledge-check questionnaire after each session. Participants who complete and submit all four questionnaires will receive an official certificate from OACAC immediately. Topics include: Application Bootcamp, Using Data to Enhance Your College Counseling, College Counseling Across Ohio's Diverse Landscapes, Advancing Your Understanding of Student Financial Aid, and Helping Your Neurodivergent Students Thrive. This year, we're excited to offer the College Counseling Certificate program completely free to both OACAC members & non-members as a special professional development opportunity. With NACAC's annual conference coming to Columbus this September, we hope this allows you to reserve your professional development budgets for attending NACAC while still engaging with this impactful certificate series. Who should participate? High school or college counselors, community-based organization members or advisors, and independent counselors will find it particularly useful. Experienced school counselors, community organization members, and independent counselors might find it helpful to address Standard 6 of the OSCES Evaluation. This series will provide you with five contact hours for professional development purposes.
