Senior Admissions Counselor for Transfer Recruitment

About the Role

Leads recruitment initiatives focused on transfer students, visiting students, returning students, and post bachelor's students; works closely with community colleges, as well as internal and external stakeholders. Provides comprehensive support to students and their families throughout the admissions process and builds lasting relationships to support student transition and success. Collaborates with campus departments including the Center for Transfer and Adult Students and academic schools to plan and implement our strategic recruitment plan aimed at attracting transfer and nontraditional students to IU Indianapolis. Takes action with service units on admission strategies, interprets academic policies, and exercises analysis and independent judgment on a case-by-case basis, including transfer credits and transfer student policies and procedures. Investigates concerns and questions and determines the best course of action for students and families. Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers (e.g., community colleges and transfer departments, transfer advocates, advisors, and community leaders). Builds relationships with community colleges, community-based organizations, and attends college fairs as directed by the recruitment team and admissions office. Builds relationships with transfer advocates and on-campus partners including the Center for Transfer and Adult Students. Manages individual recruitment resources and determines effective strategies for use of resources (financial, time, travel, and contacts). Represents IU Indianapolis and ensures that all approaches used make the most favorable impression on all prospective students, including the transfer students being targeted for the most positive outcome. Maintains, implements, and oversees a holistic recruitment plan for transfer recruitment. Directs campus academic and student service units in the development and evaluation of transfer recruitment outreach efforts aimed at helping IU Indianapolis meet enrollment targets set by the campus. Makes recommendations to these various units regarding the development of targeted outreach efforts to transfer students based upon the enrollment goals set by the faculty and the campus administration for the undergraduate student body. Advises on travel/visit opportunities, coordination/collaboration of outreach activities and programs for transfer students, and evaluating transfer credits and counseling students on transfer and evaluation and procedures. Coordinates and partners with the Center for Transfer and Adult Students. Represents IU Indianapolis's involvement at campus recruitment events and programs on campus and in the community. Reaches out and maintain relationships with prospective students by establishing rapport and trust, educates them on IU Indianapolis's programs and admissions requirements, and assists prospective students through their application and first enrollment process. Advises students on how prior credits will transfer into IU Indianapolis. Participates in on-call counseling rotation assisting students as they visit the office. Conducts pre-scheduled, in-person, and virtual admission counseling appointments for all student types with an emphasis on transfer and adult students. Counsels prospective students and families on the financial aid process and reviews basic financial aid information including financial aid notifications with prospective students. Conducts daily admission presentations for visiting students which may include all student types. Maintains group email account, providing timely responses to email inquiries. Analyzes weekly point-in-cycle reports/data to coordinate recruiting efforts with the territory recruitment manager to understand data- driven principles related to IU Indianapolis's strategic plan, mission, and values. General Responsibilities  Maintains, implements, and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment. Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals. Integrates a strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers. Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment. Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations. Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll underrepresented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models. May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

Requirements

EDUCATION  Required  Bachelor's degree WORK EXPERIENCE  Required  2 years of experience in admissions, higher education, marketing, or a related field Preferred  2 years of recruitment, community engagement, customer service, hospitality, or similar experience Experience working with transfer students Experience in enrollment management or student services Experience working with Slate Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
