I work with students interested in healthcare and medical career paths and have started to give presentations to school and student groups on how to best prepare for these competitive and complex pathways. The tips apply to most students applying to college, but certainly those applying to competitive majors. These are things we all wish students and families knew earlier. Learning and sharing these things anecdotally have helped me gain trust and buy-in from schools, students and families, so I want to share with others what those talking points are. Let's help these students turn in the best application possible!
What I Wish Someone Told Me My First Year in Admissions

This session is designed for admissions counselors looking to refine their approach and make the most of both fall and spring travel seasons.
We're Not in Kansas Anymore: A Guide to Being a New Out-of-State Recruiter

Oh no Toto! We're not in Kansas anymore. Being an out of state recruiter can be really challenging! Many students don't know who you are, counselors may be unfamiliar with your institution, and it can feel oh so lonley down the Yellow Brick Road. This session is a toolkit for new out of state recruiters on how to work their territory, build connections, and prevent burn out outside the Emerald City. The session will end with a short trip to the Oz Dust where counselors can make connections with people in similar territories.
