Becoming a Player Leader: Leadership from Any Position in Admissions
RW Corns 209
Presenters: Austin Vicary
Picture this... you're watching the world cup games this summer and something is missing. Argentina is playing without Messi. France is playing with out Mbappe. Ronaldo is nowhere to be found during the Portugal game. Something is off and doesn't quite seem right. All of these players are, of course, famous... but they did not get there right away. If you watch how they play, the rest of the team looks to them in defining moments. They spent time crafting their mindfulness, leadership competencies, and knowledge to be put in that position while also not being the coach or the general manager. Just like them, you too can lead from your position in admissions without being the director or supervisor right away. Join this session to learn about a concept adopted from the work of Brene Brown called a player leader and explore what it means to be a leader in admissions. We will dive into development, mindsets, and opportunities that could help you move teams in the right direction. Come prepared to answer the question: Do you love to win or do you hate to lose?
